Marmara White is a Turkish striped marble from the Marmara Island origin, closely related to Marmara Marble, Marmara Equator, Equator White, Pajamas and supplier-labelled Marmara Panda selections. It has a clean white background crossed by naturally parallel grey or blue-grey veins; mild-grain slabs show softer lines, while high-stripe or Equator selections create stronger zebra-like bands. Commercial slabs and tiles are commonly offered in 16, 18 and 20 mm, with slabs approximately 2,400–3,200 × 1,200–1,800 mm, plus custom bathroom panels, treads, pillars and tabletops. Polished finishing sharpens the stripe, honed creates a softer surface and textured finishes can improve wet-floor grip. Authentic material is white to light grey with grey or blue-grey linear movement; some lots are strongly striped while others are quieter, so differences in stripe thickness and spacing are normal as long as the bundle remains geologically and tonally coherent.
Marmara Panda is strongest polished where dramatic grey striping is desired, while honing reduces contrast and creates a quieter graphic surface. Strongly striped grades suit bookmatching or directional walls; low-vein material reads more uniform and minimalist, so quality depends on the design brief as much as rarity—check stripe continuity, background whiteness, repairs, consistent thickness and enough numbered slabs to maintain the intended sequence.
Marmara Panda is particularly effective on directional bathroom walls, hammams, feature panels, reception fronts, staircase risers and other surfaces where its linear pattern can be intentionally aligned. Kitchen counters are practical but remain acid-sensitive and require careful stripe planning around sinks and returns. In wet rooms, use continuous waterproofing, white adhesives, restrained joints and neutral cleaners; specify honed or textured pieces rather than highly polished slabs for shower floors.
Marmara Panda is suitable for floors and stair treads when the product is genuinely the striped Marmara Island material rather than another Panda-branded stone. Its linear veins should be laid out before cutting so the stair sequence reads continuously. Outdoor weather exposure can be acceptable with a tested lot, correct anchoring/drainage and a textured finish; polished stone is less practical on exposed wet steps. Use neutral marble cleaner, soft microfiber and an impregnating sealer where needed. White adhesive, clean installation water and prompt spill removal help preserve the pale bands, while acids will etch both Marmara Equator and related striped selections.
Marmara Panda / Marmara Equator should be treated with a penetrating impregnating sealer only when absorption testing shows the previous treatment is no longer effective; there is no reliable fixed “every 12 months” rule. Because this is a carbonate marble, acids can etch both white and grey bands, while the brilliant white sections expose oil or coloured stains and the polished grey stripes can reveal scratches and dull spots. Genuine Equator material comes from Marmara Island and is valued for unusually straight, ruler-like parallel veining, so cleaner whiteness, even stripe spacing, large usable slab dimensions, 20–30 mm thickness and enough consecutive pieces to maintain the same vein direction increase project value substantially.
